MM FISHERIES is doing its fish production on 400+ acres of ponds in different districts of Chhattisgarh where Indian Major Carp, Pangasius, Monosex Tilapia, Rupchanda are produced.
Pond aquaculture, also known as pond culture, is a type of aquaculture that involves raising aquatic animals, such as fish, shrimp, prawns, in ponds. It is one of the oldest and most widely practiced forms of aquaculture, dating back thousands of years. Pond aquaculture can be done in freshwater, brackish water, or saltwater ponds.
1. Extensive systems: These systems rely on natural food production in the pond to feed the fish. They are typically low-input, low-output systems, and are often used for small-scale production.
2. Intensive systems: These systems provide supplemental feed to the fish, which allows for higher production levels. They are typically providing high output and require more management than extensive systems.
Relatively low cost: Compared to other types of aquaculture, pond aquaculture can be relatively inexpensive to set up and operate.
Can be used in a variety of climates and locations: Pond aquaculture can be done in a wide range of climates and locations, making it a versatile form of food production.
Can provide a source of income and food security: Pond aquaculture can be a valuable source of income and food security for small-scale farmers and communities.
Can be environmentally friendly: When managed properly, pond aquaculture can be an environmentally friendly way to produce food.
MM FISHERIES is doing its fish production on 1300 + Cage in different districts of Chhattisgarh where Major Carp is Pangasius and Monosex Tilapia is produced.
Cage aquaculture involves growing fishes in existing water resources while being enclosed in a net cage which allows free flow of water. It is an aquaculture production system made of a floating frame, net materials and mooring system (with rope, buoy, anchor etc.)with a round or square shape floating net to hold and culture large number of fishes and can be installed in reservoir, lakes, river, and oceans.
1. High production: Cages can hold large numbers of fish, leading to efficient use of space and high yields.
2. Relatively low investment: Compared to other aquaculture methods, cage culture requires less initial infrastructure investment.
3. Favorable environment: Utilizing natural water currents provides oxygen and helps maintain water quality.
4. Multi-use of water bodies: Cage farms can coexist with other activities like boating and recreation in some cases.
